After Graduate school, McIlvaine worked briefly for the grisly Fox television show "Trauma Center," logging video of emergency room horrors on the swing shift. During this time McIlvaine also did a series of paintings of Whoppers, inspired by the great food painter Wayne Theibaud. This is a later, darker example Bellow are a pair of acrylic on photocopy paintings inspired by the film, "Lust for Life," which starred Kirk Douglas as Vincent Van Gogh and Anthony Quinn as Gaugin. |
